Following the first ever AGM of HILFN on 16th September 2008, the following Board members were elected:
Drew Ratter – Chair and Consumer representative
Crofter and local councillor form Shetland. Crofters Commission Chairman, Board member of Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Scottish Consumer Council. Drew is passionate about local food and making it accessible to all.
Simon Calder – Local Food Group representative
Experienced farmer and horticultural grower from Ullapool. Chair of Lochbroom and Ullapool Growers Group a lively group of active farmers, crofters and gardeners, and pioneers of the healthy food prescription scheme with NHS Highland. Simon likes to involve people and make sure everyone gets their hands dirty.
Susy Macaulay
Journalist with 27 years experience as a newspaper reporter, television director, producer and presenter, radio presenter and feature writer. Five years with Press & Journal and five years with BBC Scotland, Landward programme. Lives on North Uist and views the availability of local food as an issue of major importance to the health and wellbeing of communities.
Gordon Quinn
Branding, marketing and advertising manager, Director of McConville Wellburn marketing consultancy with a background in international and local marketing communications planning and development. Lives in Badachro, Wester Ross and runs Aird Hill B&B with his wife, Vanessa, growing their own produce on-site.
Kristine Mackenzie - Producer representative
A crofter for 30 years and Manager of Rural Skills Learning Centre as well as Market Manager of Lochcarron Producers Market. Kristine is passionate about good, local, fresh produce.
Lucy Beattie - Producer representative
Farms Leckmelm Farm near Ullapool producing vegetables, pork and lamb. A rural chartered surveyor by qualification, Lucy is also Director of Leckmelm Holidays Ltd and Member of the Association of Agricultural Valuers.
Gilpin Bradley - Producer representative
Managing Director of Wester Ross Fisheries Ltd which produces, processes and directly markets its own salmon. Committee Member of Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Forum and Director of three salmon joint marketing companies.
Linzi Seivwright
Best Practice Guidance Officer for the Deer Commission for Scotland. Linzi is responsible for managing the development, delivery and promotion of the Best Practice series and exploring and developing opportunities for training in Best Practice. She has a strong interest in eating more local produce, particularly wild venison.
